Blackpink makes history as first K-pop group to headline Coachella

Blackpink will be playing along with Jackson Wang, DPR IAN and DPR LIVE.

The deets for Coachella 2023 are finally out. Blackpink will be headlining this year’s edition of Coachella. They will be the first ever K-pop act to do so.

This is a historic feat as this year’s headliners are all nonwhite artists, a first in Coachella’s history since its inception in 1999.

Headlining the festival, together with Blackpink, are Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny and American singer-songwriter Frank Ocean.

The chart-topping quartet previously played at Coachella before the pandemic in 2019.

Then, they performed a few of their top hits like Ddu Du Ddu Du (2018), Forever Young (2018) and Kill This Love (2019).

Joining them this year are Asian acts like Jackson Wang, DPR Live and DPR Ian.

Wang performed at last year’s Coachella. But it will be DPR Live and DPR Ian’s first time at the valley.

Presales for the passes begins this Friday (13 Jan) at 11AM PT (3AM SGT on Saturday, 14 Jan) at coachella.com, or here.

However, according to an official announcement, there are “very limited Weekend 1 passes remain. For your best chance at passes, look to Weekend 2”.

When and where will Coachella 2023 take place?

Coachella 2023 will take place over two weekends — 14 Apr to 16 Apr and 21 Apr to 23 Apr. It will be held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.

What are the types of tickets available?

There are different types of passes for sale. Ticket options include four-day GA ($599+) and VIP ($1269+), as well as other camping options available. Visit the festival’s website for more information.
