Exploring Fusion Of Traditional And Urban Korean Cuisine At Hongdae Oppa

Hongdae Oppa will be opening soon. This Sunday.

We’ve heard of quirky gastronomic combinations like the Bulgogi pizza, as well as Kimchi spaghetti.

But is it possible to meld traditional and urban Korean cuisine too? We’re telling you that’s possible soon.

Come this Sunday, Korean restaurant Hongdae Oppa will open its doors to the public.

The restaurant tells SEOULHYPE that their specialities include the Korean-style fried chicken and hotplate sizzlers.

That’s not all they have to offer.

If you want Western food with a Korean slant, go for the Tteok Carbonara ($11.90). But if you’re looking for a conventional dish, order the Bokkeumbap ($12.90) or the Thick-Cut Pork Belly Rice ($14.90).

In a mood for fried chicken? Feel free to choose your portion (4 pieces, half or whole) and your flavours too. They come in three flavours: original, spicy and soy garlic.

But good food should be shared. If you’re a student heading down with your friends, opt for student meals starting from $8.90.

Or if it’s a family meal, consider these too: Budae Jjigae ($35.90) or the Eomuk Jjigae ($24.90). You can top it up with other side dishes with an additional fee.

Hongdae Oppa is located at Plaza Singapura, #B2-47. Plaza Singapura is directly linked to Exit D of Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station.

So what are you waiting for? Head down to Hongdae Oppa this Saturday (18 Jan) to find out for yourself. Visit Hongdae Oppa’s website HERE.
