Brand new original productions? Returning favourites? And more binge-watching materials? Netflix has got everyone covered.
Over 60% of Netflix users consumed Korean titles in 2022, according to a news release. The streaming giant rides on the high viewership, announcing 34 releases this year.
The diverse catalogue of dramas, films, reality shows and documentaries also marks itself as the streaming platform’s biggest-ever lineup yet.
Some of the much-anticipated dramas include Gyeongseong Creature, Black Knight, Song of the Bandits and more. Popular titles like Sweet Home, D.P. and The Glory will also make their comeback this year.
Netflix is also not one to shy away from a plethora of genres. Along with the good ol’ love stories in A Time Called You and Crash Course in Romance — to name a few — there are also intriguing thrillers like Bloodhounds and Celebrity.
Films and unscripted shows:
Another expansion the streaming giant is looking into comes in the form of films and unscripted shows. There will be six upcoming films with the earliest release of JUNG-E on January 20, followed by Kill Boksoon and Believer 2. Other films include Ballerina, The Match and Unlocked — all of which touch on an array of tropes and topics.
Additionally, Netflix will debut multiple entertaining reality shows with different interests such as Physical: 100 (endurance competition), Zombieverse (zombie survival) and The Devil’s Plan (mind games).
Documentaries are also not left out of the roster. This year will see two new releases, Yellow Door: Looking for Director Bong’s Unreleased Short Film (working title) and In the Name of God: A Holy Betrayal.
With the countless and ever-growing numbers of Korean titles, Korean entertainment fans will be spoilt for choice.
