HONG KONG – Asian singer-songwriter, Jackson Wang joined many lifelike wax figures of international celebrities at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong. But he’s one of the few artistes from the Korean pop industry to do so. An unveiling ceremony was held by Madame Tussauds Hong Kong yesterday (29th July) to commemorate this momentous occasion.
Jackson was born and raised here in Hong Kong and it was since young that he had a dream to have a wax figure at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong.
“When I was 9, I visited Madame Tussauds with my family and I wished I could have my own wax figure in future too. Now my dream has come true (for me),” says the 25 year-old rapper.
Other than sharing the happiness for his dream-come-true, Jackson said that he was so excited to meet “himself” as a wax figure.
Besides the launch of the wax figure, Madame Tussauds had also invested over HK$1 million to create two more interactive experiences with Jackson, which are AR and Hologram, according to a press release. With these new technologies, guests can take pictures with Jackson, pose with him in four pictures, and even groove to his track titled “Papillon” with him.
Right at the beginning of the unveiling ceremony, a personalized handprint was presented to Jackson, welcoming him to the Madame Tussauds family. His figure was dressed in the same black attire with him. Of course, the “W” gesture of Team Wang is a must as well.
Hundreds of fans were invited to the ceremony. Jackson interacted with them by posing the Team Wang “W” gesture together to express his love to them. He also took group photos with fans and group selfies with everyone present.
Jackson continued to reveal that he would be releasing his new songs in September, and there are plans for his very first solo album too.
