“When The Camellia Blooms” leads upcoming 56th Baeksang Arts Awards

The upcoming awards ceremony will not have a live audience in consideration of the current COVID-19 situation.

The prestigious Baeksang Arts Awards has just announced the list of nominees.

Dubbed the “Oscars of Korea”, the annual awards show honours the best in both Korean film and television. It will be held on June 5, but without a live audience due to the current COVID-19 situation.

KBS’s romantic thriller comedy “When The Camellia Blooms” earned the most number of nominations, leading the field with 9 nods across all acting categories, as well as in Best Drama and Best Screenplay.

Fans of the recent romantic series “Crash Landing on You” have also made their voices heard, trending on Twitter with the hashtag #CLOYBaeksang, after announcing its 8 nominations, including for both its main leads Son Ye-jin and Hyun Bin.

Notable nominees include Lee Ji-eun, otherwise known as IU, for her role as the beautiful owner of “Hotel del Luna” and she is up against veteran actress Kim Hee Ae (World of the Married) and Kim Hye-soo (Hyena) for the Best Actress.

In the battle for Best Actor, Park Saeroyi from “Itaewon Class” played by heartthrob Park Seo Joon will be up against fierce competition in his category, while his on-screen partner Kim Da-mi is nominated for Best New Actress.
